Toshiba unit launches VoIP division, targets SMEs

(BNamericas.com Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)The Mexican unit of Japanese electronics manufacturer Toshiba has launched a digital solutions division specialized in corporate communications systems, local press reported.

The product range includes traditional and IP systems that integrate data, voice and applications.

Toshiba has already signed 15 distribution partners for the new division, and aims to increase the number of partners to 60. The company bases its sales forecasts on the fact that 50-54% of local firms plan to upgrade their telephony systems, and 80% of them plan to migrate to IP telephony.

"Currently, we have seven channels in the Federal District, three in Monterrey, three in Guadalajara, one in the southern region and another one in the southeast," Alejandra Guerrero, product manager for the digital solutions division, was quoted as saying.

Toshiba is offering channel partners a vendor's cut of 25% which can be increased to the degree distributors specialize in the solutions.
