Eighty-nine percent of employers worldwide consider strong verbal communication skills a critical attribute they seek in potential new hires, according to the 2015 GMAC Corporate Recruiters Survey, a poll that portrays the current employment landscape for business school hires across industries and world regions. "In the professional sales industry, the ability to communicate confidently makes the difference between success and failure," says Martinez, who graduated from Chapman University in May 2015. "That's one of the biggest benefits I've received from being a Toastmaster." More than 75 percent of Toastmasters members have a Bachelor's degree or higher.
