Three Ways How to Fix a 'Proxy Server is Refusing Connections" Error

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) September 27, 2013 It is not uncommon to hit a ‘Proxy server is refusing connections’ error message when using a program which requires access to the internet. The message simply indicates that the software is trying to route its connection through a third-party server, and is failing.

Solution to the problem may lie in one of three areas. Regardless of the cause, here are three of the most prevalent situations and how to deal with them.

Web Browser: Either you have configured your browser to access the Internet through a proxy server or it has reconfigured itself. Sometimes, this occurs when one browser mimics the settings of another, importing the settings into its own.

To rectify the problem, simply go to your settings page (sometimes called Options) and find the menu for network connections. It may be in the 'Advanced' tab. You should check the 'No proxy' box.

Windows: It is possible that the internet settings on your Windows operating system have somehow switched to access the Internet via a proxy; as a result of malware infection, for example. In this case, go to Control Panel, Connections, LAN and turn off any reference to proxy connections or configuration files. It is recommended that you then carry out a full malware scan with up-to-date anti-virus software.

idcloak VPN: idcloak's anonymous surfing software automatically shuts down the internet connection when contact with the VPN server is lost. This is done to protect your identity online. No connection to the VPN proxy server will be possible until you re-activate the Internet. Open your idcloak VPN software and, in the dashboard, click ‘Reenable the Internet.’ To learn more about how our privacy VPN works with your Internet connection, post your questions at our idcloak VPN Forum.

idcloak Technologies is a Dallas-based developer of web encryption and anonymity solutions. The idcloak Knowledge Center contains over 900 free educational articles on internet security, privacy and censorship bypassing.
