Three suspected terrorists arrested

(UPI Top Stories Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Police in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, Friday arrested three men on terror-related charges.

The Australian reports the three were charged with membership in a terrorist organization and providing funds to a terror group. Two of the three also were charged with providing support to a terror organization.

A court appearance was set for Monday.

The Australian said two of the suspects, Bassam Raad and Majed Raad, are devotees of radical cleric Nacer Benbrika, who was one of 19 people arrested in November in the nation's biggest counter-terrorism operation. The third suspect was identified as Shoue Hammoud.

The arrest came as the Department of Foreign Affairs warned of a possible terror attack to mark Sunday's anniversary of the deaths of nine Australians in a helicopter crash in Nias, Indonesia, the Brisbane Courier Post reported. Thirty relatives of the victims are being ferried to the crash site to mark the occasion.
