Thousands Take Part in Inaugural Bizwomen Mentoring Monday Event

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --(Business Wire)--

American City Business Journals, the nation's premier print and digital publisher of local business news, broke new ground last week as 10,000 people subscribed to the Bizwomen newsletter, part of the new ACBJ news site geared to women in business.

The sign ups came on the heels of a successful launch of the site when 9,000 women participated in Mentoring Monday, a new mentoring event held in 40 different cities all over the United States on the same day.

Using a speed-coaching format, the Business Journals invited the most successful women in each city to act as mentors to offer career advice to about 200 women in each city.

In Birmingham AL, San Francisco CA (News - Alert) and just about everywhere in between the women's experiences reflected that of Leigh Elizabeth Deusinger of Maryville University in St. Louis who said " left inspired and having connected with a myriad of diverse women. I aspire to be on the OTHER SIDE of the table down the road."

"Mentoring Monday and Bizwomen show the strength of our company when we harness the energy of 43 markets and a strong corporate team," said CEO Whitney Shaw. "We look forward to 'Mentoring Monday' becoming an annual event supporting communities of successful women. It's our expectation Bizwomen will become a premier website filled with compelling business news that women and men need to read."

Video clips of Mentoring Monday events are available on the Bizwomen website, www.bizwomen.com. To sign up for the weekly newsletter visit bizwomen.com/newsletter.
