Telus-OnCall

(Canadian Press Broadcast Wire (Canada) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) KAMLOOPS, B.C. - A lawyer for telecommunications giant Telus says a Kamloops Internet provider that's $1 million behind on its bills should be placed into bankruptcy.

Kibben Jackson made the comments Tuesday in B.C. Supreme Court as Telus continues its legal battle with On Call Internet Services.

Jackson says On Call has already lost two other court cases and an arbitrator's decision, rulings that should mean the end of the road for the small company.

Telus wants On Call placed into bankruptcy proceedings so it can obtain some of the money it says it's owed or sell the company to another firm.

On Call argues it has been overbilled for wholesale Internet bandwidth by Telus and wants a stay in proceedings while it pursues other legal options.

Justice Robert Powers has not disclosed when he might rule on the bankruptcy case. (Kamloops Daily News) (c) 2010 The Canadian Press
