TeleCommunication Systems Inc receives USD3.3m contract from US Marine Corps for Wireless Link Network solution

(Corporate IT Update Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
TeleCommunication Systems Inc (NasdaqGM:TSYS), a company that develops
and applies wireless data communications technology, revealed on 20
August that the US Marine Corps has awarded a USD3.3m contract to
support and maintain its Wireless Point-to-Point Link (WPPL) Network
solution.

Systems for the US Marine Corps to support the Operation Enduring
Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom will be delivered by the company
over the next two to three months and it expects to secure more WPPL
orders of over USD40m against its 2007 World-Wide Satellite Systems
contract with the US Marine Corps with a potential total value of
USD70m including option years, through 2011, over the next weeks.

The TCS WPPL Network Package provides marines deployed in remote areas

with point-to-point and point-to-multipoint, line-of-sight and
non-line-of-sight transmission of voice, video and data communications
and critical last-mile communications allowing soldiers to extend their
Local Area Network to deployed locations by providing services over
terrestrial microwave radio links.
