Telecom measure passes in House

(Wall Street US Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)The US Congress has voted to pass the first major amendment to legislation covering the country's telecommunications industry. The new telecom bill, which received a 321-101 vote, would enable telephone service providers, including Verizon Communications Inc and AT&T Inc, to offer cable television services. The legislation would also implement a 'net neutrality' provision to require Internet service providers to offer flexible and preference-based online usage to consumers.
