Telcordia Named TMF Awards Finalist for Driving Standard That Speeds New Services to Market

PISCATAWAY, N.J. --(Business Wire)-- Telcordia (www.telcordia.com) has been named a finalist in the TeleManagement Forum (TMF) Excellence Awards for the Prosspero Supplier Award category. This honor recognizes Telcordia's innovation, experience and reach in driving the adoption of the Multi-Technology Operations System Interface (MTOSI), the standard which operators rely on to speed new services to market. Winners will be announced on May 21, 2007, during the TeleManagement World event in Nice, France.

The TMF Excellence Awards are given to member companies that are recognized for their distinguished contribution and innovation in the OSS and BSS industry. Telcordia is a finalist thanks to its work with Discovery, a module of Telcordia(R) Granite Inventory, which provides both physical and logical discovery of network equipment and circuits along with a unique set of capabilities for reconciliation of inventory data. In particular, Telcordia has purpose-built Discovery to support the coarse-grained MTOSI interface for inventory data retrieval.

MTOSI is the crucial single standard that provides the "glue" that connects different vendors, technologies and systems together within the network, easing the integration burden and allowing operators to fully focus on developing and delivering new services to market. It addresses the problem of complex network adapters as it provides the specifications for a standard interface that can be used by inventory discovery engines, such as the Discovery module of Telcordia Granite Inventory, to communicate to the network.

"Telcordia has also been recognized by the TMF for the development of MTOSI, and our work in driving its adoption among the value chain - we're a real MTOSI standard-bearer, and we believe it holds the key for operators as they launch new services," said Michael Anderson, President, Global Solutions, Telcordia. "Telcordia has embraced MTOSI, led its definition and applied it in our solutions. In fact, Telcordia is already using MTOSI in conjunction with six Tier 1 service providers representing both our next generation OSS and legacy OSS solutions worldwide."

Use of the standard MTOSI interface enables systems integrators or equipment vendors to quickly and easily build a mediation layer for discovery, leading to lowered integration times and associated costs, inevitably paving the way for it to become the preferred option. Telcordia is also a leader in driving the development and implementation of Next Generation OSS (NGOSS) with operators seeking to make their businesses leaner and more efficient, and has worked hand-in-hand with the TMF to develop the framework from its inception.
