Telcontar unveils Hosted Web Services for location enabled applications

Hosted Web Services, a non-branded online service to enable customised, location-enhanced Internet and mobile applications to be developed and deployed, has been unveiled by Telcontar, a supplier of software and services for the LBS industry.


Telcontar said Hosted Web Services enables rich, high-performance AJAX fluid maps to be created for location-enabled applications. It is an online geospatial service which is powered by the Drill Down Server (DDS) geospatial software platform from Telcontar and allows developers to integrate draggable maps, proximity searches, routes and driving directions.

According to Telcontar, its Hosted Web Services provides XML web services, map and Points of Interest data and flexible pricing options and is especially suited to web-based applications which need a fluid map user experience. Servers, routers, load balancers, software and data are provided with Hosted Web Services, with Telcontar handling capacity planning, maintaining servers, load balancing, updating map and POI data sets.


Telcontar provides sample applications and tools to test XML requests and responses and has implemented a smooth transition process for developers moving applications to live, commercial use on Hosted Web Services.
