Tekelec Enhances Performance Management Applications to Prepare Operators for IMS Deployments

MORRISVILLE, N.C. --(Business Wire)-- Tekelec (NASDAQ: TKLC), a leading developer of high-performance network applications for next-generation fixed, mobile and packet networks, today announced upgrades to the Tekelec Integrated Applications Solutions (IAS). IAS includes a suite of real-time data collection, correlation and processing applications that help operators ensure seamless creation and delivery of services to subscribers.

The new enhancements provide greater modularity, increased redundancy, improved performance and greater reliability for operators to prepare for the implementation of Internet Protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) networks, without requiring investments in new tools for performance and revenue management.

Tekelec IAS is deployed by operators around the world to measure, manage and monetize telecommunications networks across multiple technologies and protocols, including legacy, next-generation converged networks and IMS architectures. The enhanced platform enables operators to monitor networks and generate critical business intelligence for revenue assurance and network and service performance management.

Tekelec has enhanced the IAS architecture by consolidating the data correlation, mediation and database functions into a cluster of servers, which delivers significant economies of scale in large Tier 1 time division multiplexer/multiplexing (TDM), 2G/3G, voice over IP (VoIP) networks and IMS implementations. The consolidation of functions is important when supporting IMS implementations, where signaling traffic volumes can be ten-fold the levels seen in traditional networks. The Tekelec IAS significantly reduces the number of servers and footprint required to support applications in large networks.

In conjunction with Tekelec's industry-leading EAGLE(R) 5 Integrated Signaling System (ISS) and TekCore Session Manager--a core IMS call session control function (CSCF) platform--Tekelec is now able to provide unified signaling and monitoring for TDM, 2G/3G, VoIP and IMS networks. Operators benefit from being able to support and monitor all of their signaling protocols with as few network elements as possible.
