TDS bringing 1Gig Internet to a handful of New Hampshire communities

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 09 November 2014 Release date- 07112014 - Customers in Antrim, Bennington, Chichester, Deering, Henniker, Hillsborough, and Hopkinton will gain access to fiber network and TDS TV.

Before Concord and Manchester get it, New Hampshire residents in Antrim, Bennington, Chichester, Deering, Henniker, Hillsborough, and Hopkinton will have access to 1Gbps Internet service announces TDS Telecom (TDS). The company says Gig service is now available for immediate installation in parts of Hopkinton, along with TDS TV, a new Internet Protocol (IP)-based TV service. Residents in parts of Antrim will gain service in the coming weeks while the rest of the community along with Bennington residents will gain access by the end of the year. In the first quarter of 2015, Hillsborough, Deering and Henniker residents will gain access.

'The launch of 1Gig service means TDS customers now have access to the fastest Internet service in the nation,' said Matt Apps, manager of Internet Product Management and Development at TDS. 'With 1Gig, anything our customers do on the Internet will be incredibly fast. From streaming movies or TV shows to working from home, the experience is 'lag-less' and completely seamless.' The 1Gig service is about one hundred times faster than the national average Internet speed of 10 megabits. With it, customers can transfer HD movies in seconds and connect remotely to their office or telecommute seamlessly, even on multiple devices.

'Having 1 gigabit really opens up new possibilities for telecommuting,' said Apps. 'The technology makes it possible for people to enjoy all the benefits of living in a smaller community while working for an employer based in a larger nearby city.' TDS is offering 1Gig Internet service as part of a TDS TV bundle. Powered by Mediaroom, TDS TV includes a Connected-Home DVR (which links all TVs together), more than 260 all-digital channels (including 100+ in HD), on-demand TV and movies, pay-per-view, and on-the-go viewing options. Wireless set-top boxes are also available.

Customers with 1Gig bundles will automatically receive Remote PC Support at no additional cost. This service includes unlimited technical support along with device setup assistance, computer cleanup, PC optimization, and advanced Internet troubleshooting.

'As if having super high-speed Internet services isn't exciting enough, we're rolling out Fiberville and offering additional incentives to those who sign up early in many of these New Hampshire communities,' Apps added.

Residents can find out if their home is part of the 1Gig/Fiberville project area, as well as when service will be available, by visiting TDSfiber.com/where or calling 866-44-TDSTV.
