Suicide bombing in Tel Aviv kills at least 7: reports+(Japan Economic Newswire Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)JERUSALEM, April 17_(Kyodo) _ A Palestinian suicide bomber killed at least six people and wounded at least 35 others, many of them seriously, Monday afternoon in Tel Aviv, according to Israeli media. The Haaretz news service reported that the explosion near the old central bus station in south Tel Aviv Monday afternoon killed a total of seven people, including the suicide bomber. The report noted that the attack came just two hours before a special session of the Knesset to inaugurate the new parliament elected last month. It also came at the height of holiday travel during the weeklong Passover holiday. The Jerusalem Post said on its website that the attack was believed to have been carried out by Islamic Jihad. It said the attack appeared to have involved an explosives-laden vehicle, though there were also reports that the bombing was carried out by a suicide bomber, possibly a woman. |
