Stratus Video Announces Expansion into Telehealth with New Communication Platform at J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference

Stratus Video, the industry leader in language service and video technology, today announced its expansion into the telehealth market with a next generation communication platform. Lee Horner, President of the Stratus Telehealth Division, will debut the proprietary technology on January 11th at the 35th Annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference. Stratus Telehealth solutions are built with intelligent call routing which engages the right people, at the right time. Healthcare providers, patients, and interpreters will be able to use their own devices to communicate with each other via video, SMS text messaging and email. These expanded capabilities position Stratus technology as a vital collaboration and patient engagement tool for any healthcare organization.

"Imagine you are an ER doctor trying to treat a patient presenting with a severe allergic reaction," proposed Lee Horner. "What are your options for reaching an allergist? Paging one to come to the ER from across the facility, or even worse, to drive to the hospital from home? Video call may be an option in some facilities but you would need the direct number of the specific physician you are trying to reach and you are reliant on that physician answering your call. Instead, we have created a system in which you, as the ER doctor, only have to hit one button on an iPad - in this case, the 'Allergy' button. Our intelligent call routing will find the next available allergist and ring his/her personal device. If the call is rejected or not answered in a timely manner, the call routes to the next available specialist. The routing is customized to each of our customers' workflow so all the ER staff has to do is push one button, and be able to access the right person, at the right tie."

Stratus Telehealth solutions can support up to six video parties at once. Because it is based on Stratus Language Services technology, a non-English speaking patient can also be placed into a video call with a spoken or signed language interpreter, ensuring easy and effective communication between the patient and healthcare providers.

Post discharge, hospitals can also use Stratus Telehealth solutions to send push notifications to patients' own devices. Research has shown that patients who do not receive conscientious follow-ups are more likely to be readmitted within 30 days. The Stratus Post Hospital Discharge Solution can message patients within 24 hours of discharge, instructing patients to join a video call for a follow-up with a provider. Hospitals can also generate reports identifying patients who did not engage in a follow-up within a specified time post discharge and may be at risk for readmission.

"This expansion into Telehealth represents major leaps in patient engagement and outcomes," said David Fetterolf, President of the Stratus Language Services Division. "We have been improving communication and care for limited English proficiency and Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing patients for years. It is thrilling to see the technology expand to improve the timing and quality of healthcare delivery for everyone."

Lee Horner will be giving a 25 minute presentation on Stratus Video on Wednesday, January 11 at noon PST during the 35th Annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco.
