SpringSource Executives to Speak on the Future of Open Source at ApacheCon

NEW ORLEANS --(Business Wire)-- SpringSource, a leading provider of infrastructure software and the company behind Spring, the de facto standard in enterprise Java, today announced its continued support for the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) at this week's ApacheCon US 2008 conference in New Orleans. SpringSource is a leading company behind providing support for Apache technologies, namely Apache Tomcat, the Apache Web Server and Apache ActiveMQ.

As in years past, SpringSource is a silver sponsor of the conference and has several key executives participating in keynotes and panel discussions, including Jim Jagielski, chief open source officer for SpringSource and director and chairman for the ASF, and Mark Brewer, senior vice president of enterprise delivery. In addition, several SpringSource developers, Apache commiters and members will be at the conference. Filip Hanik and Mark Thomas will present on Apache Tomcat; William R. Roe will present on the Apche Web server; and Bruce Synder will present on Apache ActiveMQ. For a complete list of speakers and discussion topics, visit: http://us.apachecon.com/c/acus2008/speakers.

"Every year we look forward to ApacheCon and getting together with members of the Apache open source community to discuss new and exciting developments in the industry," said Rod Johnson, CEO of SpringSource. "SpringSource remains committed to supporting the ASF and continuing to grow our leadership presence around Apache Tomcat, the Apache Web Server and Apache ActiveMQ."

In recent years, Spring and Apache technologies like Tomcat and the Spring Framework have rapidly grown and expanded, and are now considered among the most critical open source application infrastructure solutions in the world. Spring has been downloaded more than five million times and according to BZ Media, two-thirds of organizations today use Apache Tomcat.

For open source supporters who cannot attend ApacheCon, SpringSource is hosting its annual SpringOne America conference in Hollywood, Florida on December 1. For more information, visit: http://americas.springone.com/conference/hollywood/2008/12/index.html.
