South Africa : MEC Jacob Mamabolo appoints Unathi Ndobeni as Chief Financial Officer [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The radical transformation of society and the modernisation of human settlements require that government must invest in human capital that is highly skilled, motivated and experienced, said Human Settlements, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Jacob Mamabolo when welcoming the appointment of the new Human Settlements Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Ms Unathi Ndobeni.

Part of turning around the Department includes the appointment of key and strategic personnel thereby ensuring stability in the senior management and leadership levels. I welcome the appointment of Ms Ndobeni as she joins the department s top management and I am pleased that she brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will radically improve our financial management system, MEC Mamabolo said.

Ms Ndobeni worked for the National Treasury as a Director in the Accountant-General s office and in 2010 she was seconded as the acting CFO to the Department of Women, Children and People with Disabilities. From 2011 she joined the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries as Chief Director: Financial Management. She holds a Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) degree from the University of Natal and CIMA Levels 1 and 2 (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants). MEC Mamabolo expressed his excitement of having a women CFO in the department, and said it reaffirms government s commitment to gender empowerment and equality.

The new CFO will also ensure that we comply with all the recommendations of the Auditor-General and that all the internal controls are strengthened to ensure that we receive unqualified audits. Equally important, the new CFO will review and improve the process of paying our service providers on time which will also improve their cash flows that will enable them to deliver the housing targets on time, MEC Mamabolo said.

This appointment ends the period of time where different officials were acting on this position. This, along with the appointment of the HOD few months ago, will help to bring stability in the department. We did the same with the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs where an HOD was also appointed to bring stability. I am firmly assured that with these talented senior officials, their appointments and stability in management will result in improved, better and faster delivery of services to people of Gauteng, Mamabolo said.

Ms Ndobeni will officially start her duties in the middle of November 2014.
