Sony Ericsson partners Zapak, Xbox for 'World Gaming Day'

Mobile phone company Sony Ericsson today said it has partnered gaming portal Zapak.Com and Microsoft XBOX 360 for 'World Gaming Day', scheduled for February 12.

'World Gaming Day' -- the first of its kind global initiative from India would be jointly promoted across mediums by Zapak.Com, Sony Ericsson and Xbox 360 and is intended to be an annual feature," Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications India General Manager Sudhin Mathur told reporters here.



Various contests and activities would be organised and the event will be marketed across various mediums -- TV, radio and online in India, he added.

The gaming industry worldwide is estimated to touch USD 46.5 billion by 2010, according to the PWC Media Outlook 2007-2011. The gaming industry in India is poised to touch USD 200 million by 2011, according to Nasscom.


Sony Ericsson launched its gaming handset F305, priced at Rs 8,995 as a part of the event.
