Sly Stone $5 Million Verdict Obtained by Allan Law Group, His Attorneys Since 2009; Allan Will Represent Stone in Next Phase of Trial to Capture Royalties Since 2010 Tentatively Set for March 16, 2015

Allan Law Group PC, who has represented Funk legend singer Sly Stone since 2009, obtained the $5 million breach of contract verdict against Stone's former manager and lawyer and their company Even St. Productions, Ltd. He was assisted by co-counsel, Nicholas Hornberger who joined the legal team several months ago after the defendants served a trial subpoena on Robert Allan in an attempt to deprive Stone of his long term counsel.

"This is an important verdict for all artists who have been taken advantage of by people they have placed their trust in," said Robert J. Allan of the Malibu, CA (News - Alert) law firm Allan Law Group, who filed the suit (Stewart v. Goldstein, et al., BC430809 on January 28, 2010.

Allan will represent Stone in the second phase of the trial to determine the right to receive Stone's royalties from 2010 on. That phase of the trial is currently set to be heard before Judge Mark Mooney in Los Angeles Superior Court Department 68 on March 16, 2015.

A Los Angeles Superior Court Jury, after a 3-week trial, decided in favor of Stone, whose real name is Sylvester Stewart, and awarded him $2.5 million against defendant Even St. Productions, Ltd for breach of its employment contract with Sly Stone and $2,450,000 against Gerald Goldstein and $50,000 against lawyer Glenn Stone for monies taken from the company that should have been paid to Stone.

"Sly would like to thank the 'Everyday People' who gave up their time and served on the jury," Mr. Allan said.

Stone entered into an agreement with his manager and lawyer to collect his royalties for him and manage his affairs, but over time, the defendants diverted much of the royalties coming into the company away from Sly to themselves.

Sly Stone is represented by Robert J. Allan, Brian R. Tinkham and Stella Yap (News - Alert) of the Malibu, CA law firm Allan Law Group, PC, an AV rated business and entertainment litigation law firm offering strategic business and legal advice and trial court representation in California.
