SIMtone Corporation Takes Cloud Computing to the Next Level with Launch of First Wireless, "Zero-Touch" Universal Cloud Computing Terminal

DURHAM, N.C. --(Business Wire)-- SIMtone Corporation, a privately held company delivering the next cloud computing paradigm, today announced a new cloud computing device designed specifically for the mobile broadband market. The new SIMtone SNAPbook is the industry's first wireless-ready, zero-touch portable WiFi SIMtone terminal that can be used to access on-demand and on- the-fly any virtual desktop and other cloud computing services powered by the SIMtone platform. The portable SNAPbook is based on the successful Asus Eee PC solid state hardware, and operates without any local operating system or processing, with all computing tasks performed 100% in the cloud.

The SNAPbook securely and automatically connects to any SIMtone-powered cloud service on-the-fly, via any WiFi, HSPA, EVDO or WiMAX access point. It can be utilized to access any SIMtone cloud service made available by enterprises or service providers, such as Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft XP, Microsoft 2003 or Linux virtual desktop and application environments. And like all SIMtone SNAP terminals, the portable SNAPbook delivers the full, native end-user experience created by each computing service hosted in the cloud, such as high-quality MP3 audio and desktop video performance, as well as plug-and-play native USB support which can be used, for example, to synchronize Apple iPods with PCs in the Cloud, as well as for other printing and storage devices. Additionally, the SNAPbook supports automatic tunneling to offer seamless automatic connectivity to SIMtone cloud computing services from office LANs in addition to home and public Internet access points.

"Mobilizing the power of the SIMtone cloud computing platform, the new SNAPbook terminal provides end-users with an always-on, available-everywhere, full-featured PC experience without the need to carry and manage traditional laptops or desktops and the requisite software," said Misha Nossik, Executive Vice President, Hosted Desktop Services, SIMtone Corporation. "Users simply power it on, login with their SIMtone ID and have full access to all their virtual PCs or other cloud-based services, anywhere they are, on-demand and on-the-fly, without ever worrying about breakdowns or losing their PC."

SIMtone SNAP zero-touch terminals are offered as standalone, low cost hardware appliances, such as the SNAP ONE desktop and the SNAPbook terminals, usable on LAN, WAN and public Internet connections, out of the box, with no configuration required, as well as free, downloadable software terminals usable on browsers or on PCs, thin clients and mobile devices, such as the WebSNAP and SoftSNAP, available at www.simtone.net
