Seven more dead in Sri Lankan attacks

(UPI Top Stories Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Seven people including four soldiers were killed in two explosions in northern Sri Lanka a day after Tamil Tigers suspended participation in peace talks.

An army truck was hit by a claymore mine in the Vavuniya district, killing four soldiers and injuring eight, the Hindu reported.

In another location on the Jaffna peninsula further north, a mine exploded prematurely, killing three people. The Army said the mine was being set up to target security forces.

The attacks come one day after Tamil Tigers announced they wanted to have an internal meeting before attending the peace talks, which had been set for next week in Switzerland.
