[January 05, 2009] 'Serbia issues nine VoIP licences' Tweet (DMeurope Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Eight internet providers and IT companies in Serbia and one regional company have received permission to offer VoIP telephony from the telecommunications agency Ratel. Permits were issued to ISPs Verat, YUBC and Beotelnet, the affiliated companies Eunet and Yunet and ICT companies Informatika and INT CS. The telecommunications companies Maxtir and Art Komunikacije also received permits as well as regional ISP Acton based in Slovenia, which is also present in Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro and Macedonia. International interconnection authorisations were issued to Art Komunikacije, SBB and YUBC. A full liberalisation of Serbia's fixed telecommunications sector is expected during 2009.
