Secure Computing Launches Hosted Web Protection Service; Eliminates Costs and Complexity of Traditional Solutions

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SAN JOSE, CA, June 9 / MARKET WIRE/ --

Secure Computing Corporation
(NASDAQ: SCUR), a leading enterprise gateway security company, today
announced availability of Secure Web
Protection Service -- the industry's first software-as-a-service (SaaS)
Web security solution providing reputation-based protection from malware
and other Web-borne threats. The new hosted service offers customers the
Web security protection they need through a reliable, hassle-free SaaS
deployment option. With no applications or hardware to install or deploy,
the service provides organizations with immediate and reliable network
protection. The service is available now for existing and new North
American-based Secure Computing customers and will be rolled out worldwide
over the next several quarters.

Until now, companies have been forced to install multiple stand-alone
applications or gateway appliances that combine various functions to
achieve a truly comprehensive level of security. While organizations need
the protection, many don't have the internal staff, budget, or equipment
space to maintain and support additional solutions or to explore
alternative deployment options. The new Secure Web Protection Service is
based on Secure Computing's award winning Secure
Web (previously known as Webwasher?) technology and addresses all of
the key business issues surrounding Internet use in the workplace:
security, organizational compliance, and policy control.

According to leading research firm Gartner Inc.'s report, "Pros and Cons of
SaaS Secure Web Gateway Solutions" (by Peter Firstbrook, April 16, 2007),
"Organizations with software or appliance gateways tend to be slow in
upgrading software to get the latest protections and management features
because they lack the time to test and deploy new versions." Moreover,
"SaaS SWGs scale linearly without the stepwise incremental cost of new
hardware, which is a bonus for growing organizations."

"Increasingly, our clients are looking to us to provide them with a variety
of delivery options for receiving best-of-breed Web security protection.
Our Secure Web Protection Service incorporates all of the knowledge and
experience we've gathered through years of proven Web security and
anti-malware protection. In addition, we are able to leverage our
extensive hosting experience and infrastructure already in place via our TrustedSource (TM) reputation

service," said Dmitri Alperovitch, Director of Intelligence Analysis and
Hosted Security for Secure Computing. "We will continue to invest and
develop our core technology to keep pace with evolving security threats."

Secure Web Protection Service includes the following:

-- Reputation-based filtering: Secure Computing has set a new standard
for proactive detection through our industry-leading reputation system,
TrustedSource. Relying on extensive knowledge of Internet entities and the
constantly changing global threat landscape, the TrustedSource network
enhances Web filtering by identifying potentially malicious behavior and
enabling organizations to block these threats in real-time.

-- Web filtering: By controlling Web access and enforcing Internet use
policy, organizations can keep Web surfing distractions at bay and increase
productivity, reduce legal liability, preserve bandwidth for business-
related activities, and enhance Web security.

-- Anti-Malware/Spyware protection: Unlike traditional security solutions
that rely only on the known viruses or signatures, Secure's Anti-Malware
protection uses several proactive, intent-based filters to stop today's
constantly changing Web 2.0 threats.

-- Informative reports and dashboards: Informative reports and snapshots
provide insight into how each business is using the Web and what threats
have been de-railed via the Secure Web Protection Service.

-- Flexible policy manager: The flexible policy manager allows
organizations to implement specialized Web policies that work best with the
needs and demands of each business. Organizations can select the
categories to control and even determine which time of day those policies
will be enforced, enhancing organizational productivity and reducing legal
liability.

With Secure Web protection service, customers will benefit from reduced
upfront costs as well as lower continuing costs. Rather than installing,
patching, upgrading and maintaining on premises solutions for Web
protection, IT administrative staff can be redirected to other mission
critical IT needs. Organizations with numerous locations or limited IT
resources can quickly appreciate the benefits of simply redirecting Web
traffic to a Secure Computing data center and allowing Secure Web
Protection Service to manage protection from start to finish.

"Web filtering solutions have evolved from merely acceptable-use
enforcement to serious malware defense," said Trent Henry, vice president
and research director at Burton Group. "However, not all organizations want
to deploy yet another appliance on the network, or they want additional
layers of protection. The emergence of hosted web protection brings new
options for both."

Additionally, Secure Computing today announced its Secure Hybrid Delivery
Architecture for Web security. This new delivery model allows
customers to gain access to best-of-breed Web security through solutions
that can combine -- in any configuration -- virtualization with managed
services and hardware/software-based appliances. The end result is security
that (a) best fits into existing infrastructures while setting customers up
for future directions and growth, (b) consistently enables the most
favorable operational efficiencies, cost and resource reductions, and (c)
provides sound deployment options for energy optimization and Green IT.
