Seat's Martorell plant to produce 410,000 vehicles in 2007 (Seat: la empresa estancara la produccion en 410.000 vehiculos en 2007)

(Expansion Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Seat, the Spanish subsidiary of German car manufacturer Volkswagen, will manufacture 410,000 saloon vehicles in its Martorell plant (in the Spanish autonomous region of Catalonia) in 2007. This figure, which represents a 0.9 per cent increase on the 406,000 vehicles scheduled for production by the end of 2006, was approved by Volkswagen's supervisory board last week. The figure for 2007 represents a low level of production, given that the Seat installations are capable of producing more than 550,000 vehicles per year. Seat will not launch a new model next year.

The company registered turnover of 5.27bn euros in 2005, down 10 per cent on the previous year, with losses of 62.5m euros.
