SCF Foundation Announces New Board of Directors Leadership


(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BRADENTON, Fla., Oct. 30 -- State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (formerly the Manatee Community College) issued the following news release: State College of Florida (SCF) Foundation has announced the 2014-15 officers for its Board of Directors.



Leading the SCF Foundation Board of Directors are President Chris Pfahler, Venice; Vice President Cathy Kuhlman, Venice; and Treasurer Lisa Bristow, Bradenton.

Under her leadership, Pfahler said she will work tirelessly to strengthen the SCF Foundation Board of Directors.


"I will work diligently to promote the Foundation in our community and enhance fundraising to remove the financial obstacles for all deserving students who want to improve their lives with an SCF education," Pfahler said.

Pfahler, who has served on the SCF Foundation Board of Directors since 2005, is a community leader from Venice who managed Gulf Coast Community Foundation's (GCCF) STEMsmart initiative for three years and continues to assist GCCF with the initiative in a consulting capacity. She also volunteered as project manager of GCCF's Florida BRAIVE Fund, a $5-million fund to assist Florida-based military personnel and their families affected by deployment to Afghanistan and Iraq. Pfahler has served in leadership roles on several local nonprofit boards.

Kuhlman, who also began serving on the SCF Foundation Board of Directors in 2005, is vice president/partner of Turbine Weld Inc., a family-owned business in Venice. She presently serves on the Venice High School Rotary Futures board and was previously a member of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Epiphany Cathedral School and Bon Secours Hospital boards.

Bristow, owner/principal of CS&L CPAs, is a 1979 SCF alumna who has served on the SCF Foundation Board of Directors since 2006. Bristow brings 25 years of accounting experience in diversified industries to her role as treasurer of the SCF Foundation Board of Directors. She also has served on other nonprofit boards and committees in the community.

Directors are Hank Abbott, retired insurance company executive; Jodi Allen, vice president and senior relationship manager, Florida West Coast, BMO Harris Bank; Ronald Allen, president and co-owner, NDC Construction; Kelly Caldwell, president and chief executive officer, Caldwell Trust Company; David Dettmann, vice president and senior banking advisor, PNC Wealth Management; Raul Elizalde, president, Path Financial LLC; Lillian Elliott, director of quality and organization capability, Tropicana Products Inc.; Michael Fuller, wealth management advisor, Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management; Curtis Hamlin, principal attorney, Porges, Hamlin, Knowles & Hawk, PA; Dorothy Korszen, director, Farr Law Firm; John Mason, executive director, Gulf Coast Heritage Association; Ann Moore, real estate professional, Michal Saunders & Company; Hon. Edward Nicholas, circuit court judge, Manatee County Judicial Center; Dr. Carol Probstfeld, SCF President; Charles Robbins, 1967 SCF alumnus, president/owner, Robbins Insurance & Financial Services; Jennifer Saslaw, community leader and certified financial planner; and Peter Wozniak, chief executive officer, Venice Regional Bayfront Health.
