Samsung Take Charge of 2014's Trade-in Market, Topping Apple's Trade-in Share on CompareMyMobile for the First Time in Five Years(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Mobile phone recycling comparison site CompareMyMobile has revealed Samsung as the top traded-in phone brand for 2014 - the first non-Apple brand to make the top spot since 2009. Apple's trade-in market share has dropped from almost 50 percent in 2013 to 31.63 percent in 2014, as competition in the smartphone market place increases. The data reflects Samsung as one of Apple's main competitors. Its phone trade-in market share almost doubled from 18.5 percent in 2013 to 34.14 percent at the beginning of 2014 - crowning it as the top traded-in brand on the site. Experts say this could be a reflection of more people owning non-Apple devices. It is also noted that BlackBerry has seen a decrease in trade-in market share this year. At the beginning of 2013, CompareMyMobile reported it as the third top traded-in brand, making up 12 percent of all phone trade-ins. Although the manufacturer is still the third top traded-in brand, its phone trade-in market share has actually decreased by almost half - it now makes up just 6.56 percent of all trade-ins on CompareMyMobile.
