Rock Co. officials seek missing man

Feb 25, 2012 (The Janesville Gazette - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- EMERALD GROVE The Rock County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help to find a man who went missing after a traffic accident.

At 6:40 a.m. Thursday, Rock County Sheriff's deputies responded to a single-car accident on Highway 11/14 in Emerald Grove, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. According to the release: When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a 2000 Chrysler Town and County minivan that had struck a tree. Both airbags had been deployed, and the vehicle was covered with frost, leading deputies to think that it had been there for some time. There was no blood, nor any other evidence of serious injuries.

The minivan was registered to Lee A. Vesely, 36, of Schofield. When deputies checked the area, they couldn't find any sign of a victim.

Later that day, Vesely's family members contacted the sheriff's office to tell them that no one had seen him since Tuesday.

Vesely had been staying with cousins in Delavan and working construction jobs, but he didn't show up for work on Wednesday or Thursday. His last contact with family was in the early morning hours of Thursday.

When deputies tried to contact Vesely's cell phone, it was turned off or disabled, so they couldn't locate it using GPS.

Deputies also searched the area using a police dog and contacted area hotels, hospitals and jails. Vesely is described as a white male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 175 pounds with brown hair, blue eyes and a goatee. He is not considered to be a danger to the public, but officials are concerned for his safety.

Anyone with information on the crash or Vesely's whereabouts should contact the Rock County Communications Center at (608) 757-2244. The sheriff's office also is asking Emerald Grove-area residents to check out buildings on their properties and contact the Rock County Communications Center with any information.
