RES Software Signs Multi-Year Strategic Commitment to Microsoft's System Center Family of ProductsMar 24, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- RES Software, a provider of dynamic desktop solutions and a member of the Microsoft Managed ISV Partner program and the Microsoft System Center Alliance, announced the expansion of a decade-long relationship with Microsoft against the backdrop of Microsoft Management Summit 2011. The new multi-year strategic commitment to the Microsoft System Center family of products unifies Windows Client and Microsoft desktop virtualization deployments with RES workspace management and automation capabilities. This critical investment in the relationship with Microsoft will help organizations overcome the operating system and application delivery challenges they encounter when trying to design and deploy increasingly dynamic desktop environments. While the PC is still the dominant endpoint architecture in the enterprise, various desktop virtualization technologies have multiplied the options for delivering operating systems and applications to both rich clients and newer devices such as tablets and smartphones. Although these alternatives increase the flexibility in how and where users can work, they complicate the underlying delivery infrastructure. In addition, since there is no single delivery solution that accommodates all use cases, most organizations employ a combination of technologies, which results in a fragmented end-user experience and additional complexity for IT. From an IT management perspective, each emerging delivery approach introduces a new management and security model that is disparate from traditional desktop deployment architectures. Consequently, all of these challenges have hindered the adoption of new virtual desktop infrastructures. "RES has proudly supported the Microsoft product line since the company was founded 12 years ago, and our re-energized strategic commitment specifically focused on the System Center products is a long-term investment for RES that will benefit both of our user bases," said Klaus Besier, CEO of RES Software. "RES is confident that our workspace and automation functionalities will deliver increased flexibility and improved management to System Center customers as they navigate through increasingly complex IT infrastructures." "The workspace management and automation capabilities from RES Software allow customers to support complex user personalization and security requirements," said Christian von Burkleo, Director Business Strategy, Management and Security Division, Microsoft. "App-V in conjunction with RES Software Workspace Manager can provide customers with increased flexibility and lower help-desk costs." By using RES workspace and automation capabilities in conjunction with Microsoft System Center products, organizations can ensure a consistent IT management and end-user experience across the various Microsoft delivery architectures. IT management will have the ability to deploy, configure and secure applications and services through a single console using any combination of Microsoft delivery technologies, such as System Center Configuration Manager, Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) and Remote Desktop Services. End-users will be able to take advantage of a unified, personalized and secure workspace that can be accessed anywhere regardless of device or delivery approach.
