RAD Data Communications: Radview Element Management system validated
as compatible with IBM'S Tivoli Netcool/Omnibus; RAD among first
vendors to employ industry's leading OSS program in cellular backhaul
solutions
(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
RDATE:24062008
RADview-EMS, the carrier-class, modular, client-server, scalable
element management system from RAD Data Communications, has been
validated as Ready for IBM Tivoli Software. This validation is an
indication that RADview-EMS is integrated with IBM's Tivoli
Netcool(r)/OMNIbus(tm) software, which delivers real-time, centralized
monitoring of complex networks and IT domains.
Widely recognized as the industry's leading OSS (Operations Support
System) program, Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus enables network managers to
concentrate all their fault management in one package. RAD will be
among the first companies in the industry to apply the Netcool/OMNIbus
program to solutions deployed in cellular backhaul networks.
"This is particularly good news not only for cellular operators, but
also utilities, ISPs and service providers requiring carrier class
solutions," states Ben Kapon, RADview Product Line Manager at RAD Data
Communications. "Given that their networks increasingly are comprised
of products manufactured by different vendors, management is now more
crucial than ever before," he continues. "As networks become more
complex, the greater the need to employ OSS to ensure management of
their multi-vendor components from a central site."
T-Mobile, which is using RAD Data Communications equipment to ramp up
its backhaul infrastructure in readiness for the latest generation of
mobile HSDPA data services, is one RAD customer using RADview-EMS and
Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus for element management in its network.
Certified in Record Time
RADview received the Ready for IBM Tivoli Software technical validation
in a record three months. "This testifies to the quality and
reliability of RAD network management," Kapon notes. "We were not asked
to make any changes at all to RADview for it to be declared fully
compatible with Netcool/OMNIbus."
RADview-EMS provides security, inventory, configuration, performance
and fault management capabilities, as well as advanced security
management functionality, allowing a wide span of control and command.
It maximizes infrastructure by implementing load sharing among a number
of servers.
The Netcool/OMNIbus integration module for RADview-EMS provides SNMP
trap-based integration. RADview-EMS sends SNMP traps to Netcool/OMNIbus
via the SNMP probe and the associated configuration rules file and
notifies Netcool of alarms and events.
RADview-EMS can be found in Tivoli's Open Process Automation Library
