Prudential named a Military Friendly Employer® for fifth consecutive year

NEWARK, N.J. --(Business Wire)--

Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE:PRU) announced today that it has earned the 2015 Military Friendly Employer® title by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse for the fifth consecutive year. Prudential ranked No. 46 on the publication's list, jumping 25 places ahead of its 2014 placement.

"We're honored to once again be named a Military Friendly Employer® in recognition of our steadfast commitment to helping veterans' transition from the military back to civilian life," said Barbara Koster, senior vice president and chief information officer at Prudential and head of the company's Veterans Initiatives. "Prudential is proud of the leadership role it plays in encouraging other companies to establish programs that help veterans find meaningful employment after their military service. For us, hiring veterans is a crucial element of our talent acquisition strategy.

Earlier this year, Prudential opened the El Paso Business & Technology Solutions office to provide services to its business units. Over the next three years, it will hire 300 employees in quality job positions. Many of the new employees will be military veterans and spouses of active military service members.

Chuck Sevola, vice president, Prudential Veterans Initiatives and an Army veteran, said that the company employs veterans across its doestic businesses in entry- to mid-level positions and above. "We offer a variety of programs that help military veterans transition to the workforce, including VETNet, a business resource group that connects employees who are veterans and gives them professional development, mentoring and networking programs, events and opportunities."

"The 2015 Military Friendly Employers® represent the preeminent tier of companies with strong military recruitment programs and meaningful job opportunities for transitioning service members and spouses seeking civilian employment," said Sean Collins, vice president for Victory Media and a nine-year Navy veteran. "Our Military Friendly Employers® constitute the group of companies actually moving the needle and hiring from the military community. The 2015 Military Friendly Employers reported hiring over 117,000 service members and spouses over the last 12 months, representing an average of 14 percent of total new hires."

More than 5,000 companies competed for the Military Friendly Employer® title. Criteria included a benchmark score across key programs and policies such as the strength of a company's military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, retention programs and company policies on National Guard and Reserve service.
