ProteoTech to Present at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC)®, Copenhagen, Denmark, July 12-17, 2014

ProteoTech, Inc., announced today that Dr. Qubai Hu, Director of Molecular Biology, will present at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC)^® to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark at the Bella Center, July 12-17, 2014. Dr. Hu will present on Wednesday, July 16 and her presentation is entitled:

"Identification of Novel Small Molecule Tau Aggregation Inhibitors for Treatment of Tauopathies"

ProteoTech identified and validated at least five unique lea small molecule compounds (that represent new chemical entities) that potently inhibited tau proteins to form ß-sheet-containing fibrils, and/or disrupted preformed tau fibrils in vitro. The inhibitory potency of these select lead compounds appeared to be better than those of previously reported chemical classes in the literature. Select ProteoTech lead compounds and back-ups have also been screened for pharmacokinetic profile and blood-brain-barrier penetration after peripheral administration in mice. Many of the lead compounds demonstrate adequate brain exposure. The lead compounds are in development for potent inhibition and disruption of tau protein tangles, a key pathological hallmark in Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies such as the rare "orphan" disease Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
