Energy Quest's Gasification Power Plant Systems Cost Competitive HENDERSON, NV, Jan 05, 2010 -- Energy Quest, Inc. ("EQI") (OTCBB: EQST) is an emerging leader in alternative energy and the development and production of hydrogen-enriched alternative fuels in an environmentally responsible manner.

Energy Quest's advanced biomass gasification systems can be configured to produce a wood or most any biomass to energy gasification plant for $1.5 million per installed MWe of capacity. This is approximately 50 to 75% of the cost of competitive plants. The lower cost is due to Energy Quest's advanced modular designs, resulting in lower set up costs and increased efficiencies. One of the leaders in this industry recently built and installed a biomass gasification plant for approximately $2.5 million per installed MWe of capacity which is over 60% more than the cost of the EQI modular system. Other technologies can go as high as $3.5 million per installed MWe of capacity while some suppliers are claiming costs as low as $2 million per installed MWe of capacity. Almost all biomass power plants that are currently being installed around the world are steam turbine gasification plants. Steam plants are more expensive than the EQI power generation process. The industry has grown in excess of 50% from 1990 to 2009 and is growing about 10% per year. The synfuel that is produced can either be used to produce power or chemicals such as methanol. About half of the world capacity is used for chemicals and the other half for power. The trend, however, is toward power. Air emissions from Energy Quest's gasification plants are designed to be far below U.S. Clean Air Standards.

About Energy Quest Energy Quest, Inc., a Nevada Corporation, is an emerging leader in the development, construction and marketing of low-cost alternate fuels worldwide. Through superior technology, the Company is focused on becoming a GreenPowerhouse(TM). Record energy prices, combined with the global focus moving rapidly towards addressing pollution, has heightened the need for sustainable, zero emission energy. Energy Quest's technology is based on clean, renewable energy, positioning it to benefit from global trends.
