Product and Design Excellence Honored at Healthcare Facilities Symposium

CHICAGO --(Business Wire)--

The 2014 Symposium Distinction Award Winners were honored today at the annual Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo at Navy Pier in Chicago. The Awards program recognizes design teams, projects and individuals who have made a profound contribution to the healthcare design industry. The program accepts submissions of all types and sizes of patient care-related facilities. In addition it recognizes the best and most innovative new products within the healthcare design & construction industry. FacilityCare Magazine in association with the Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo sponsors the Awards.

This year the program announced a new award, the Adaptive Reuse Award, which recognizes the creative reuse of an existing space or structure originally used for another purpose. Entrants shared their challenges, compromises, goals, key improvements and how if elements of the existing space were maintained. "The inclusion of this award reflects the scope of work that we are seeing our attendees focus on at Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo," said Jenabeth Ferguson, VP, Symposium Director. "Healthcare facilities are constantly challenged to do more with less, and with the implications of ACA and the demands of technology, we will continue to see these types of projects as a focus in the years to come."
