Press Briefing Re: Melissa Cook Triplet Surrogacy Case: First Case in the United States Challenging the Constitutionality of a State Surrogacy Enabling Statute

What:

Melissa Cook discusses her epic court battle to protect the rights and welfare of the three baby boys to whom she gave birth on February 22, 2016. Her case, brought on behalf of the three children and herself, is the first in the nation which challenges the constitutionality of a state surrogacy enabling statute.

The case has broad implications for the culture at large, and for the women and children of the nation.

The 50 year-old single man who entered into the surrogacy agreement had demanded that Melissa abort one of the children. When Melissa refused, he stated he would give one of the babies away. The California State Court Judge stated that what happens to the babies is none of that court's business.
