Porn arrest sets off investigation

(UPI Top Stories Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)A U.S. Department of Homeland Security official charged with seducing a minor over the Internet apparently downloaded pornography at a previous job.

Friends and colleagues say Brian Doyle, 55, faced disciplinary action for misusing company equipment to view pornography when he worked at Time magazine's Washington bureau, a report in Friday's Washington Post said.

Federal officials will not reveal whether the incident came to the attention of investigators who conducted a background check on Doyle in 2004.

Doyle was arrested Tuesday night. Authorities allege Doyle was using the Intent to seduce what he though was a teenage girl.

Originally hired as a spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration in 2002, Doyle moved to Homeland Security and became deputy press secretary with clearance to handle top-secret material in November 2005, the Post said.

U.S. Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., has launched a congressional investigation into the hiring practices of the Department of Homeland Security.

If there was an incident at Time magazine, Homeland Security above all should have found it, King told the Post.
