Polycom Named to InfoWorld 100

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Dec 04, 2008 (ASCRIBE NEWS via COMTEX) --
Polycom, a supplier of telepresence, video and voice communications
solutions, has been named to the 2008 InfoWorld 100.
The InfoWorld 100 awards honor companies for IT projects that exemplify
intelligent, creative uses of technology to meet business and technical
objectives. According to InfoWorld, the winning projects stand as proof
that striking a new path in IT can reap deep organizational rewards.
Polycom and Glenn Noga, Polycom chief information officer, were
recognized for the comprehensive transformation of the company's
network infrastructure. Polycom's network transformation began with a
bottom-up design of the company's WAN and LAN environments, with an
emphasis on reducing the latency, jitter, and packet loss of
high-definition video, VoIP, and business application traffic, spanning
500 network devices and 5,000 end-user devices at more than 40
locations.
"Our new high performance network has become a competitive advantage
for the company," said Noga. "We have equipped our employees with a
complete set of communications tools that support all the different
styles found in a global company, and there's no question that the
investments we made in unified communications and collaboration
technologies have had a significant impact on employee productivity
worldwide."
