Podcasting launched(Business World (Philippines))File sharing goes beyond simple music downloads as information technology equipment distributor Microwarehouse, Inc. launched podcasting in the Philippines. Podcasting allows iPod users access and download locally produced content in video and audio formats. Through the iTunes website, 30 local channels are currently available to some six million iPod users worldwide. "Basically anyone who has content can put up on the Web by making a recording, uploading it to iTunes, which is an Apple website. What the user needs to do is subscribe to the website, and it's uploaded automatically to the computer every time there's a new material," Microwarehouse President Inch Veloria said. Ms. Veloria refused to divulge the number of iPod users in the country, but added the local market is "growing." "We want to promote the iPod not just for music but for podcasting." |
