Plans for N. Korea nuke talks fizzle

(UPI Top Stories Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)A 2-day Tokyo forum to jumpstart 6-country talks on North Korea's nuclear program accomplished nothing and representatives headed home Wednesday.

Pyongyang has shunned formal talks since November in protest of U.S. sanctions, which Washington says are separate from the nuclear issue.

The Beijing talks, in which the two Koreas, the United States, China, Japan and Russia are participating, have been stalled since.

U.S. representative Christopher Hill said he wasn't there to coax North Korea back to the table in Beijing, the BBC reported.

It's really not our job to get them back to the talks. It's their job to get back to the talks, he said. They've got to get themselves to Beijing, bring some position on how they are going to denuclearize.
