PeerApp and McAfee to provide content security for broadband services

Mar 03, 2010 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- PeerApp has partnered with McAfee to enable mobile and fixed line network operators to categorize and control internet content delivery at multi-Gbps scale.

According to PeerApp, the joint solution will allow operators to improve their subscribers' experience, strengthen security, and meet regulatory requirements.

The partnership combines the McAfee SmartFilter product with PeerApp's carrier-grade UltraBand media caching software.

Robert Mayer, CEO of PeerApp, said: "PeerApp is the first and only supplier to deliver carrier-grade content control at multi-Gbps scale. Policies can be configured to meet specific network operator preferences or to meet local regulatory requirements. By embedding McAfee SmartFilter technology, we are enabling our service provider customers to better serve their subscribers, reduce Web security risks, and comply with local laws." Thomas Moore, vice president of worldwide OEM sales for McAfee, said: "By combining the McAfee SmartFilter technology with PeerApp intelligent media caching, service providers stand to benefit strongly from a single solution that can reduce overall operating costs and provide subscribers with a vastly improved internet experience." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
