Pakistan: Bin Laden whereabouts unknown

(UPI Top Stories Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Pakistan's prime minister says no one has a clue as to the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden more than four years after the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.

Speaking to CBS News' Up to the Minute in an interview, Shaukat Aziz, who is visiting New York, said: The truth is nobody has a clue where he is. Nobody knows whether he's alive or not.

The report said Pakistan and the United States, partners in the war on terror since 9/11, remain allied in the search for the al-Qaida leader.

On other issues, Aziz was quoted by CBS as saying said Pakistan's view is that Iran should not get into production of nuclear weapons at all. He said Iran has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes which should be done under International Atomic Energy Agency supervision.

On the nuclear agreement between the United States and India, Aziz told CBS that India, Pakistan and the United States should collectively come up with a mechanism so that we can control proliferation, allow use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and prevent any situation which would promote production of nuclear weapons in the area.
