ORI Awarded Year Two of Five-Year Contract with Bureau of Labor Statistics for Collection of Critical Economic Indicators

HERNDON, Va. --(Business Wire)--

ORI, a market research and strategic business intelligence firm, has been awarded three task orders by the U.S. Department of Labor for monthly collection of Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) employment data.

The new task orders, in Year Two of a five-year $150 million blanket purchase agreement (BPA) contract awarded to ORI in July, 2013, have a total value of approximately $22 million.

This win significantly increases ORI's work with the BLS. Since 2007, ORI has been the prime contractor for BLS data collection services in support of the Current Employment Statistics (CES (News - Alert)) Program at the CES Florida Data Collection Center (DCC) now located in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. These new task orders expand ORI's data collection responsibilities to include the four CES DCCs and the CES Help Desk, one Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) DCC and the Electronic Data Interchange Center. More than 400 full- and part-time ORI employees are involved in these data collection efforts at six sites.

"ORI is thrilled to expand our partnership with the Bureau of Labor Statistics," said Katleen Benson, President of ORI. "Our increased responsibilities let us provide the BLS with the technology and data they need to accurately report developments in the nation's economic conditions upon which so many public and private organizations depend."

The Bureau of Labor Statistics gathers, analyzes and reports detailed industry data on employment, hours and earnings. Survey results are a highly visible, key indicator of the overall health of the economy, earning trends and fluctuations in demand. The Current Employment Statistics program of the BLS surveys approximately 144,000 businesses and government agencies representing approximately 554,000 worksites nationwide each month. The tight production timeline and strict security and reporting protocols demand clear, concise processes and procedures and a highly trained, detail oriented workforce.

According to Benson, the ability to deliver data collection services that address these high-pressure, time-critical needs for dependability and accuracy contributed to ORI's successful competition for these task orders. "Consistently providing high quality, on-time deliverables has enabled ORI to earn the confidence of leaders throughout the U.S. Department of Labor," Benson said.
