No alcohol-detection device for Navaira
(UPI Entertainment News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Tejano singer Emilio Navaira was not required to use an alcohol-detection when driving despite prior drunken driving arrests, a Texas judge ruled.
Bexar County Court-at-Law 2 Judge Paul Canales said Navaira was not required to use an alcohol-detection device since he claimed in an affidavit more than three years ago that he does not own a car, the San Antonio Express-News said Saturday.
Navaira had two drunken driving arrests on his record when he crashed his tour bus on a Houston freeway in March. Since the accident, the singer has undergone two brain surgeries.
Due to the singer's condition, Canales said this week he saw no reason to review Navaira's bond on the related drunken driving charges.
There's no sense right now in doing anything about it, Canales said.
The case before Canales stems from Navaira's 2005 arrest following another alleged drunken driving crash, the Express-News said. The Life is Good singer previously was arrested in 2000 for driving under the influence.
