[February 03, 2009] NIPPON TV'S VIDEO WEB SITE EKES OUT 1ST MONTHLY PROFIT Tweet TOKYO, Feb 04, 2009 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) -- The online video distribution operations of Nippon Television Network Corp. (TSE:9404) swung into the black in January, its first profit on a monthly basis. With most video distribution services believed to be in the red, the TV station was able to lift its operations above the break-even line. Nippon Television sees online video operations turning a full-year profit for the year ending March 2010. The services began in 2005 by subscription, but users did not flock to the site in the numbers expected. By 2007, the broadcaster had made all video services free of charge, switching to sponsorship arrangements. It produces drama and variety programming in which sponsors' products get exposure.
