NEW Jobs Coming to Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa. --(Business Wire)--

N.E.W. Customer Service Companies, Inc. (NEW), the nation's leading provider of extended service plans and buyer protection programs for consumer products, announced today at a press conference with Gov. Edward G. Rendell plans to open a new customer service call center in Altoona by May of this year that will bring up to 481 new jobs to the area.

"At a time when too many companies are laying off too many employees, it's extremely good news that a company, like NEW has chosen Pennsylvania to grow its business and to give hundreds of the region's hardworking men and women the opportunity to provide for themselves and their families," Governor Rendell said. "Our investments in the creation and growth of businesses in the commonwealth are vitally important, and our efforts have paid off."

"We're excited about our opportunity to expand our business in Altoona," said Tony Nader, CEO of NEW. "The workforce here is strong, driven and skilled and we are confident that the call center employees will provide outstanding customer service."

With the addition of the new call center jobs, NEW will become one of the area's top fifteen largest employers. Last July, NEW established a Work-at-Home Training Center that currently employs 60 people from the Altoona region.

Those interested in applying for jobs at the new call center should attend the NEW job fair Feb. 10 through 12 at the Blair County Convention Center, One Convention Center Drive in Altoona. Presentations will begin at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily. A job fair booth will also be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily to provide information about the company. Candidates interested in applying for the Customer Care Representative positions can apply at www.newcorp.com/jobs. "We welcome NEW to Altoona, Blair County and the I-99 Innovation Corridor," said Martin Marasco, President and CEO of the Altoona Blair County Development Corporation; who played an integral role in bringing NEW to Altoona. "With both the Work-at-Home Program and the new customer call center in Altoona employing almost 500 individuals, it is refreshing to see NEW's confidence in the Central Pennsylvania workforce."

NEW provides its employees with excellent benefit programs and tremendous opportunity for growth. Employees recruited for the Altoona call center will have the opportunity to work with state-of- the-art technical equipment as well as enjoy excellent medical benefits, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, 401K, and adoption assistance. The first company-paid, four-week training class begins in early April.
