New Accelerated M.B.A. Program Designed Specifically for Accounting Majors

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BOURBONNAIS, Ill., July 29 -- Olivet Nazarene University issued the following news: Olivet now offers accounting majors the best track for career preparation with the new 4+1 Accelerated Bachelor/Master program. This is designed specifically to equip undergraduate accounting majors for the Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) exam as they are earning their bachelor's degree, while also giving them the opportunity to earn a Master in Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree.

"Accounting majors must have 150 credit hours to sit for the C.P.A. exam," said Dr. Glen Rewerts, chair of Olivet's Department of Business. "They were double and triple majoring to get those hours. We are responding to that need and situation. With this accelerated five-year program, students now get not only the undergraduate credit hours they need, but also a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in business administration." Beginning this fall, incoming freshman accounting majors may enter the program. Current or transfer students may dovetail into the program. During their senior year, they will begin taking graduate-level business administration courses. At the end of four years, they receive the B.S. degree. In one more year, they complete the M.B.A. degree.

"Olivet's goal in offering this program is to further equip and resource our students to be workplace missionaries both within corporate America and globally," said Dr. Houston Thompson, associate vice president for academic affairs, dean of the School of Professional Studies and director of the Doctor of Education in Ethical Leadership program.
