Nepal's anti-king protests continue, major rally set for Kathmandu+


(Japan Economic Newswire Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)KATHMANDU, April 18_(Kyodo) _ Demonstrations against King Gyanendra continued across Nepal on Tuesday, the 13th day of an indefinite general strike called by the country's political parties.



Fresh protests broke out in over a dozen places in all the four cities of Kathmandu.

More than 200 protesters were injured in Udayapur district of eastern Nepal, and unspecified number of demonstrators and policemen were hurt in scuffles at a rally in the western resort town of Pokhara, reports reaching here said.


The political parties plan a show of strength by bringing a large number of protesters into the capital Thursday.

The rally is being planned for the Ring Road, which forms the core area of the capital and is a place where the government has banned sit-ins and protests.
