Nepal : NEPAL TELECOM commences with the upgrades to its mobile internet service in POKHARA [TendersInfo (India)]


(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The state-owned operator, Nepal Telecom (NT) has commenced with the upgrades to its mobile Internet service in Pokhara as well as surrounding areas.

The operator is upgrading the capacity of its Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) aiming at migration to the system installed by Chinese telecom vendor Huawei Technologies, which is expected to be complete from Thursday.

Presently, there are 60 BTSs in Pokhara. Within a weeks time, NT aims at installing new equipment in those BTSs.

Upon completion of the migration to the new system, NT expects to offer fast data services to its consumers. According to Prakashman Pradhan, chief of NT Pokhara Office, the new system will be replacing the old network installed by ZTE. He added that, We have long been receiving complaints on our Internet service. The new system will provide fast Internet service.



Pradhan added that, presently customers in Kathmandu, Hetauda, Bharatpur, Ilam, Banepa and also other cities are getting access to fast Internet service through the new system.

Huawei installed new system will offer Internet of up to 7.2 Mbps.
