NEC Sets TPC BenchmarkTM E (TPC-E) Performance Record
IRVING, Texas --(Business Wire)--
NEC (News - Alert) Corporation of America (NEC), a leading provider and integrator of
advanced communications, networking and IT solutions, today announced
that the NEC Express5800/A1080a-E
enterprise server with Intel (News - Alert)® Xeon® processor E7 architecture achieved
the fastest performance on the TPC
BenchmarkTM E (TPC-E)1. This world record
performance of 4,614.22tpsE (transactions-per-second in TPC-E) at
$450.18USD/tpsE was achieved by the NEC Express5800/A1080a-E.. The
results demonstrate the capabilities of Microsoft (News - Alert) Corp's new SQL Server
2012, available April 2, to support very high-end OLTP workloads in
demanding enterprise environments and NEC's commitment to deliver
industry-leading SQL Server performance.
Building upon a decade long development experience, the fifth generation
Express5800/A1080a-E server with support for the Intel® Xeon® processor
E7 architecture provides optimal investment protection, reliability and
scalability in high-load SQL Server and virtual machine environments
where downtime can be most costly.
"Microsoft is pleased that NEC has once again shown the tremendous
performance characteristics of its enterprise servers running Windows
Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2012," said Claude Lorenson, Director, SQL
Server Product Management, at Microsoft. "The benchmark results
demonstrate that the combination of NEC's proven technology and SQL
Server 2012 provide a platform that is ready for today's most demanding
workloads."
"Drawing from NEC's rich heritage in mainframe and supercomputer
computing, the NEC Express5800/A1080a enterprise server's reliability,
availability and serviceability (RAS) features are built around Intel's
E7 Series processors to meet the increasing demands of business-critical
applications," said Mike Mitsch, vice president of IT products, NEC
Enterprise Technologies. "This release continues to demonstrate NEC's
commitment to providing mission critical database system solutions with
the NEC Express5800 enterprise server products."
In addition to holding the top position, NEC's Express5800/1000 series
servers hold two additional top-ten TPC-E performance benchmarks2
demonstrating NEC's continuous work to improve performance in its high
end server line. TPC-E is an industry-standard benchmark that is
designed to be broadly representative of modern OLTP systems. The
benchmark simulates a brokerage firm with customers, accounts and
holdings, where customers trade stocks and monitor their accounts and
the market.
