NEC Computers introduces final server in FT range

(Worldwide Computer Products News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
NEC Computers, a subsidiary of NEC Corp, announced on 3 July the
availability of the NEC Express5800/320Fd server, which is reportedly
to be the final product in its Fault Tolerant (FT) server range. This
range was designed to meet the demands of businesses looking for an
infrastructure combining high availability with server consolidation
capabilities.

The Express5800/320Fd offers Microsoft Server 2003 32 and 64 bit
support. The 64bit capability means that Mocrosoft's Exchange 2007
product is available for the system, allowing customers to take
advantage of Exchange 2007's new features.

The server is designed to support VMware 3.x and PARALLELS Virtuozzo
4.0 virtualisation solutions, making it suitable for high density
virtual implementations.

NEC offers models starting from GBP18,900 for a system with 2 x
CPU-RAM-I/O modules and duplex disks, 1 x 1 x Intel Xeon QuadCore 5450
3GHz/2x6Mb/1333MHz CPU, 2GB DDR2-667 memory, 73GB 15K SAS, a redundant
power supply, Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition with 25 client
licences and ESMPRO Server Manager and ExpressBuilder. As standard
with this package comes client site installation and 1 year support
from NEC's Ultracare ADVANTAGE pack, which offers remote proactive
monitoring, alarm escalation, material and software assistance during
working hours.

Higher levels of support are available with the Service Advantage and
Service Premium support packages.
