NEC Achieves Highest Overall Cloud Communications RFP Score at 2015 Enterprise Connect Conference

NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a leading technology integrator of advanced IT and communications solutions, today announced with NEC Corporation, that its UNIVERGE UCaaS Cloud-based solution received the highest overall score in the annual Unified Communications (News - Alert) mock request for proposal (RFP) session, "UC RFP and Review: Enterprise Communications Platform-Premise VS. Cloud-Based IP Telephony," at the Enterprise Connect (News - Alert) 2015 conference. Enterprise Connect, the leading conference and exposition on enterprise communications and collaboration, was held at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, Florida, March 16-19.

Each year at Enterprise Connect, a mock Request for Proposal (RFP) session is held. The mock RFP is a simulation of the requests that enterprises and government agencies put out when looking for a new unified communications solution. The session, led by independent consultant David Stein, Principal at Stein Technology Consulting Group, assesses UC/telephony products developed by communications vendors. Each of the vendors that participate are required to answer questions related to their solutions' architecture, features, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) over a 5 year period. This was the second year that both on-premises and cloud solutions were combined for an overall UC RFP.

This year's rating's scale-same as years past-offered 50 percent of the score to functional/technical requirements, 25 percent to architecture requirements, and the final 25 percent to pricing. "NEC provided a strong UCaaS solution that excelled in many of the RFP categoris. With high scalability and redundancy plus a platform that delivers a flexible architecture across either private, public or hybrid cloud, we felt the NEC solution was well-deserving of the accolades received," said David Stein, principal, Stein Technology Consulting Group, and facilitator of the RFP session. "NEC received extremely high marks in all categories."

The primary objective of the workshop is to help enterprise companies prepare, write and evaluate their own RFP document. The session covered a range of topics including: Examining key trends as of Q1 2015 and the system offerings from leading suppliers for premise and private cloud deployments; the strengths and weaknesses of these vendor offerings; and assigning subjective rankings based on architecture, functionality and cost.

These RFP sessions provide a simulation and RFP for unified communications vendors and are very popular at the Enterprise Connect show," said Larry Levenberg, VP, NEC Corporation of America. "NEC has consistently ranked at or near the top in delivering value to its customers and the results of this mock RFP further validate the value of an NEC solution."
