Nacro introduces employee self-servicing using Advanced's HR software

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 14 August 2014 Release date- 06082014 - Nacro, a leading crime reduction charity, has introduced employee self-service using OpenHR from Advanced Business Solutions (Advanced).

All personnel can now access the HR system remotely via a secure virtual private network (VPN) to update personal information held within their own records.

This has significantly reduced the time it previously took the HR team to update staff information. A second phase of the project - enabling staff to manage annual leave - is scheduled for completion from November.

Nacro has used OpenHR since January 2012 to centralise HR management, which was previously carried out by team leaders at regional level. The software is also used to co-ordinate the services and support that Nacro provides to approximately 1,000 employees across the charity.

OpenHR is also used to manage the charity's staff learning and development programmes and provide reports required by Ofsted who regularly asses the quality of provision provided by Nacro to service users.

Yasser Hussain, HR Systems and Payroll Manager at Nacro, commented: 'OpenHR is simple to use and configure and the feedback we have received from colleagues since the introduction of self-service has been highly positive. The project has reduced administration significantly and as a result, members of the HR team are now free to focus on more strategic HR initiatives as well as providing enhanced levels of support to Nacro's workforce.' The software is used by Nacro's HR team based in Birmingham to manage administration, recruitment and partner relationships and also to provide detailed monthly reports required by the charity's leadership team. OpenHR has been customised in line with the charity's policies and work-flow processes as these have evolved over the last three years. The solution has also been tailored to reflect Nacro's unique absence recording and reporting processes.

Hussain added: 'Although the team at Advanced has customised OpenHR on our behalf, they have also shown us how to make changes ourselves. As a result we have saved tens of thousands of pounds which would otherwise have been spent on software development.

'We work closely with Ofsted and we use OpenHR to provide staff training in line with their assessments. The detailed reports we provide are key to satisfying Ofsted requirements, and the fact that we can produce these so easily has saved us a significant amount of time.' Nacro works to reduce crime and reoffending in communities by designing and delivering programmes that equip people with the skills, advice, attitude and support they need to move their lives away from crime.
